Inspired by real people and events and based on the novel by renowned Military Historian James Holland A Pair of Silver Wings, the story follows a young Spitfire pilot: the titular character, Edward Enderby, soars over the skies of England in 1941, through the dark days of the Siege of Malta to the bitter partisan struggle in Italy. Our film is set in two time-frames, that of the Second World War and events in 1995 during the 50th anniversary of the end of the War. At its heart are the great losses he suffers. Despite being an emotional roller-coaster we leave him and our audience with a sense of hope for the future, and that despite great loss, he is, finally, able to move his life forward.
